We would like to thank everyone for their support of the first ever Ryan Canter Club Pan Disability Tournament on the 4th May 2018. The day was a rousing success as we had over 80 people involved in playing at the Check a Trade Stadium with many more on the sides supporting and cheering on the players.
We would like to say a huge thank you to the Sussex FA in their help with getting so many people involved, the sponsors who helped make the day so successful and of course to Crawley Town FC for use of the facilities to give these people a chance to do something a lot of them have always dreamed of doing. We wouldn’t have been able to do it without the help from you all.
We would like to think we all took something away from the event and it goes to show you how something like football can bring so many people together and create a fantastic environment. On the day, we had a guest speaker in Martin Sinclair who plays for England with Cerebal Palsey. He gave us all an insight into disabled football and how it is important to focus on what we can do as individuals rather than what we can’t do.
“What a day playing for the Sussex rep squad today with a 2-1 win and another stadium I can now tick off the list for scoring at yaaaaay i only bagged the 1 today but what a privilege and honour it is to even put the shirt on and walk out on the pitch with a great bunch of lads and ladies who are starting to feel more like family now the laughs honestly never stop I feel good being around them all which considering last year I was shit scared to even sit on the coach with them lol it just proves I must be doing something right and I’m not the waste I’ve felt like all this time all the players staff and everyone that’s involved with the squad have excepted me for me not what I can or can’t do but who I am as a person no matter what mood in in and to me that’s an amazing feeling so from the bottom of my heart thank you all so much just cant wait for the next lot of games #todayhasbeenagreatday which makes a huge difference in my mental state xxxxxxxxxxxx”
